The White House commented on the publication of the American journalist and editor of The Washington Post, Bob Woodward, which talks about a series of secret phone calls between former US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, broadcasts "European Justice".
In Woodward's book "War" at least seven conversations between Putin and Trump after he left the White House are mentioned.
White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre said she had no confirmation of these conversations, but added that if true, it is a serious problem.
"Do we have serious concerns? Yes, if that is true. Again, I cannot confirm any of these conversations," she adds.
Jean-Pierre points out that the fact of such talks is particularly alarming against the backdrop of Trump's opposition to increasing aid to Ukraine to defend against Russian aggression.
An unnamed Trump adviser quoted in the book claims the former president likely communicated with Putin as many as seven times after Trump leaves the White House in 2021.
Also in his book, Woodward reveals that Trump secretly sent Putin the "scarce" at the time, COVID-19 tests for personal use during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic
Trump campaign spokesman Stephen Chung previously said none of Woodward's stories in the book were "true," and also said the book "should be sold either in the fiction section of a bookstore with discount, or to be used as toilet paper".
