US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken arrived in Israel today for a meeting with local leaders, which is the first stop of his diplomatic tour in the Middle East, aimed at achieving a truce, reports Reuters, quoted by BTA.
This is Blinken's 11th visit to the region, after on October 7 last year the Palestinian movement “Hamas“ attacked southern Israel, leading to the start of the Gaza war. His visit coincides with the escalation of the Israeli military offensive both in the Palestinian enclave and against the Iranian-backed Lebanese Shiite movement “Hezbollah”.
