German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's tripartite coalition met today for new crisis talks in an attempt to prevent the collapse of the government, DPA reported.
Scholz of the German Social Democratic Party (GSDP) talks with Economy Minister Robert Habeck of the "Greens" and with Finance Minister Christian Lindner of the pro-business Free Democratic Party (FDP). This was the second meeting that the three politicians held within the framework of today, and another of several discussions in recent days.
The parties of the ruling coalition are trying to find a common language before the official meeting of the coalition committee, scheduled for later today, DPA notes.
The most contested issue is how to fill the huge hole in the 2025 budget ahead of a crucial budget committee meeting on November 14, as well as how to restore growth in Germany's weakened economy, which faces more a year of recession.
