Russia is ready to cooperate with the European Union to find a solution to the crisis in Ukraine, if "reasonable ideas" are proposed from Brussels in this direction. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, quoted by Interfax, quoted by Focus.
"If there are specific, reasonable ideas, we will be ready to listen to them. So far, however, from Brussels and from the other capitals of united Europe, we only hear incantations about the lack of an alternative to the "Zelensky formula", which in general is an invitation to enter a dead end," commented Lavrov to reporters in Astana. He made his speech in the context of the upcoming discussion at the EU summit on November 7-8, dedicated to the strategy of peaceful steps to end the war in Ukraine.
According to Lavrov, "very reasonable politicians" realize the complexity of the situation, but find it difficult to abandon their original position of full support for Ukraine. He also criticized the bureaucracy in Brussels, accusing it of trying to "usurp" the processes inside and outside the EU.
Answering a question about the possible effect of a victory of Donald Trump in the US presidential elections on this process, Lavrov said that he would not engage in predictions on the subject.
