Medvedev, who holds a high position in the Russian Security Council, wrote in “Telegram” that European politicians are trying to "push the conflict with Russia into an irreversible phase" while they still have the chance , and warned against allowing Kiev to use long-range Western missiles to fire at targets in Russia, quoted by News.bg.
Medvedev rejected the "ultimatums" of German opposition leader and possible future chancellor Friedrich Merz regarding Ukraine's use of such weapons as “electioneering”.
"It is clear that these missiles are not able to change anything essential in the course of military operations," he pointed out.
French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer reaffirmed their support for Kiev during talks in Paris yesterday, and the French foreign minister urged Ukraine's allies not to prejudge how Trump will handle the conflict.
"In general, it is surprising to what extent the current generation of European politicians wants to bring the war into their territory,", noted Medvedev.
He previously said that a Trump victory would likely be bad news for Ukraine. The Republican has repeatedly criticized the scale of Western aid to Kiev and has promised to end the conflict quickly, but has not revealed how.
Yesterday, the Kremlin dismissed claims that Trump had spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin in recent days as "complete fiction".
