Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud expressed hope that the ceasefire agreement between Israel and the radical Palestinian group "Hamas" in the Gaza Strip will be preserved. The statement was made at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, BTA reports.

"We are all responsible in the region for maintaining this ceasefire", stressed the first diplomat of Saudi Arabia, underlining the importance of regional stability.

Possible membership of Saudi Arabia in BRICS

Prince Faisal also commented on the prospect of Saudi Arabia joining the organization of emerging economies BRICS, which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and the Republic of South Africa.
"We are not yet members of BRICS, we have not made a final decision on this issue," he explained, leaving the issue open for future decisions.

Geopolitical perspective for the Middle East

In his speech at the Davos forum, the prince also shared his views on the administration of the new US President Donald Trump. He noted that in his opinion this would not increase the risk of conflict between Israel and Iran.
The statement aims to bring more calm to one of the most tense geopolitical regions, complementing Saudi Arabia's efforts to maintain peace and balance.
