US continues to try to limit Russia's oil revenues - 1

The US continues to try to limit Russia's oil revenues. This was confirmed by US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen in an interview with Reuters.

“There are several options. We do not announce sanctions, but we always look at oil revenues, and if we can find ways to further reduce Russian oil revenues, I think that would strengthen Ukraine's position. That remains on our to-do list“, she said.

Yellen also said that Washington and its allies are considering the possibility of reducing the price ceiling for Russian oil.

On December 5, 2022, the European Union embargo on seaborne oil supplies from the Russian Federation came into effect. The Group of Seven (G7) countries, the EU and Australia have imposed a price ceiling for Russian seaborne oil of $60 per barrel for their subordinate vessels and territories. From February 5, 2023, similar restrictions will apply to supplies of petroleum products from the Russian Federation. The maximum price was set at $100 and $45 per barrel, depending on the category of petroleum products.
