This morning, shots were fired in the Brussels metro, but fortunately no one was injured, local media reported, BTA reports.
The attackers managed to escape, and the police closed two of the metro stops.
Development of the case
A “Kalashnikov“ was found in the area of the shooting. Video footage shows two armed men entering the “Clemenceau“ station, with one of them opening fire at an unknown target.
Possible motives
According to local media, the incident may have been related to intimidation or settling scores in drug circles. As a result of the incident, traffic was stopped on two metro lines, as well as on two tram lines passing through the southern railway station - the busiest in the country and key for connections with neighboring countries.
Violence in the Brussels metro
In the past year, cases of violence in the Belgian capital's metro have become more frequent, especially in the immigrant district “Anderlecht“. They are often linked to attacks by unbalanced individuals or drug trafficking.
Just a few days ago, at the “Schuman“ stop, in close proximity to the buildings of the European Commission and the Council of the EU, a man was injured with a knife in an argument between two passengers.
