Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan may visit Syria before the start of Ramadan. He will be invited to visit the neighboring country by Syria's interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa during talks in Ankara today, the Türkiye newspaper reported.

The holy month of Ramadan, when Muslims fast, begins at sunset on February 28 in 2025. The last day of the fast will be March 30, and Ramadan will end with the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

According to the Turkish newspaper, the meeting between Erdogan and al-Sharaa is planned to mainly discuss issues related to Syria's reconstruction and the fight against terrorism. After the talks and the joint meeting of the governments of the two countries, important agreements are expected to be signed in the economy, transport, communications, agriculture and military-technical cooperation.

Turkey will become the second country after Saudi Arabia to be visited by the new strongman in Damascus, following the fall of Bashar Assad.
