A senior Russian diplomat accused Ukraine of lying today after Kiev announced that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) had postponed the rotation of its mission at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, BTA reports.
The reason for the postponement, according to Ukraine, is the lack of security guarantees from Moscow, Reuters reports.
Russian reaction: Accusations against Ukraine
Russian state agency RIA Novosti quoted Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's permanent representative to international organizations based in Vienna. Ulyanov claims that Ukraine is trying to establish new rules for the rotation of IAEA personnel, which he believes is unfounded.
Russia and the Zaporizhzhia NPP
Russia took over the Zaporizhzhia NPP - the largest nuclear power plant in Europe - shortly after the start of the war in 2022. Since September of that year, IAEA personnel have been stationed at the plant to monitor the security and stability of the nuclear power plant.
