Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said today that US President Donald Trump's plan for Gaza is unacceptable, Turkish media reported, quoted by BTA.
The Palestinian issue began precisely for this reason. It is a problem that began with the expulsion of Palestinians from the lands that belong to them, Fidan said.
"Trump's plan for Gaza, which envisages the resettlement of Palestinians, is something that neither the region nor we can accept. It is absurd to even think about it," said the Turkish foreign minister, speaking to editors of the Anadolu Agency.
At the same time, Fidan said that “Turkey can reconsider its position towards Israel if it stops killing Palestinians“.
"If the killings of Palestinians are stopped, if steps are taken to improve their situation, Turkey can reconsider its decisions towards Israel in parallel," the foreign minister said.
He also indicated today that he expects certain initiatives to resolve the conflict in Ukraine by June, including from the US.
"I see that the Trump administration is currently collecting data on this issue in order to make certain decisions. We can expect the initiative from the US to come soon. "Of course, Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin should meet, but before that meeting takes place, a lot of work needs to be done, to develop a common framework for an agreement on certain principles," the Turkish foreign minister said.
