Lynk & Co 08, which is also sold in our country, traveled almost 300 km without a drop of gasoline

Although the official certified mileage according to WLTP is about 200 km, the record in Mexico showed that with intelligent driving, the car's capabilities are far greater

The Chinese-Swedish model Lynk & Co 08, which is also sold in our country, made a rather interesting achievement. The premium crossover, the fruit of the cooperation between Geely and Volvo, officially entered the Guinness Book of Records after managing to travel a phenomenal 293 km on electricity alone. With this, it practically erased the line between a hybrid and a pure electric vehicle, setting a new standard for emission-free mobility.

The record achievement was registered at the Centro Dinamico Pegaso track in Mexico, where the crossover drove for more than six hours. Under the strict supervision of independent experts and telemetry systems, Lynk & The Co 08 maintained a speed of between 50 and 60 km/h - a pace that simulates city traffic. The result is clear: not a single drop of petrol was used up during the entire run, making the 4.8-metre model the absolute leader in its segment.

The technical basis for this success is the battery with a capacity of 39.6 kWh - a figure that until recently was reserved for small electric cars. The front-wheel drive version that set the record has a system output of 346 horsepower, while for lovers of high speeds there is also a version with two electric motors and a staggering 585 horsepower. Although the official certified WLTP range is about 200 km, the record in Mexico showed that with intelligent driving, the car's capabilities are far greater.

This record is not just a marketing trick, but a clear signal to European consumers, for whom the Lynk & Co 08 is launched on the market with a starting price of about 53,000 euros. With the ability to fast DC charging (from 10% to 80% in 33 minutes) and a three-speed DHT transmission, the model offers flexibility that traditional internal combustion cars or early hybrids can hardly match.

Behind the wheel of the Lynk & Co 08, the future seems not only electric, but also devoid of the so-called “range anxiety“. With a total autonomy exceeding 1000 km in hybrid mode, and the ability to cover weekly urban needs on electricity alone, this crossover is on its way to changing the rules of the game on the Old Continent.
