Dacia Evader will be the new European cheapest electric car

It will be a 100% electric vehicle with a starting price of under 18,000 euros

The budget electric revolution in Europe is about to get its new protagonist, and its name is Dacia Evader. While the competition is still figuring out how to lower prices below the magic limit, the Romanian blade of the Renault Group is preparing to strike a decisive blow in 2026. A real market shake-up is looming - a 100% electric vehicle with a starting price of under 18,000 euros.

Forget about expensive toys available only to a select few. According to our colleagues from the Italian publication Quattroruote, the Dacia Evader will not only complement the range to the successful Spring, but in the long run may even completely retire it. The secret to success? A solid dose of French engineering, wrapped in an adventurous spirit.

The new model is based on the architecture of the upcoming electric Renault Twingo. But don't expect a meek urban hatchback look. Dacia remains true to its “outdoor“ philosophy. The Evader will have the posture of a tough crossover – with a raised ground clearance and massive protective panels that give it the appearance of a small city tank, ready to battle curbs and narrow streets. With a length of just 3.8 meters, it promises to be the king of parking.

Under the hood (or rather under the floor) things look sensible and efficient. The 82 hp (60 kW) electric motor is more than enough to turn city driving into a song. With an acceleration to 100 km/h in around 12 seconds, the Evader won't win drag races, but it will easily weave through traffic. The 27.5 kWh LFP battery provides a range of around 250 km on the WLTP cycle - the golden mean for the everyday needs of the average European.

The interior? Oh, practical minimalism reigns there. Expect sturdy materials and smart solutions like the YouClip system. In the basic versions, you won't even pay for complex multimedia - your smartphone becomes a command center, mounted on a special stand. Both cheaply and always with the most up-to-date navigation at hand.

The most important news, however, is the origin. Unlike the Spring, the new Dacia Evader will be designed and assembled entirely in Europe. This is a strategic move that not only guarantees quality, but also unlocks the doors to state subsidies for local production and will not be subject to customs duties.
