Volkswagen ID.Aura T6 comes to light with technology from Xpeng

The German giant attacks Beijing with its first electric SUV, armed with lidar and artificial intelligence

The world of electric mobility is waiting for one of the most significant premieres of 2026. Volkswagen has officially lifted the curtain on the ID.Aura T6 – the model that does not just expand the range of the Germans, but marks the beginning of a new technological era. Developed in close cooperation with the Chinese giant FAW, this mid-size family crossover is preparing for its big benefit at the Beijing Motor Show on April 24.

The design of the ID.Aura T6 is a masterful exercise in aerodynamics and functionality. Its proportions skillfully blur the line between a dynamic SUV and a practical minivan. The strongly sloping front pillars, embossed fenders and almost absent overhangs are not just for beauty – they are the key to greater mileage and silence in the cabin. Inside, an intelligent 2+2+2 configuration awaits us, promising comfort and “air“ for each of the six seats.

But the real magic is hidden beneath the surface. The ID.Aura T6 is the first to feature the revolutionary CEA electronic architecture, the fruit of a strategic partnership between Volkswagen and Xpeng. This system is a real technological torpedo: it reduces the number of control units by 30%, which makes the car lighter, faster in data processing and fully ready for wireless updates (OTA).

For the first time, an electric crossover of the brand also receives lidar - the "eye" of the future, which, in combination with artificial intelligence and systems from Carizon, takes autonomous driving to a whole new level. The name Aura is not just a catchy word, but a request (Advanced, User-centric, Reliable, All-access), while the T6 index symbolizes the perfect balance between travel (Travel) and the golden mean in characteristics.

With a length of almost five meters, the ID.Aura T6 is positioned as the ideal companion for the modern family that does not want to choose between high technology and home comfort. Full technical specifications will become clear in just two weeks under the spotlights in Beijing, but one thing is certain - Volkswagen no longer just follows trends, but dictates them with Chinese speed and German precision.
