Toyota has updated Boyko Borisov's favorite SUV

Sequoia 2026 focuses on comfort and luxury

Toyota has officially introduced the updated Sequoia 2026 SUV, focusing its efforts on improving comfort, interior luxury, updating equipment and expanding functionality. Although the external changes are minimal, the model demonstrates significant progress in details and ensuring modern driving.

External changes and interior improvements

One of the most notable exterior innovations is the exclusive Wave Metallic Blue color, available only for the TRD Pro equipment level. This version retains its aggressive look with a black grille and new dark 18-inch wheels with improved off-road geometry. The updated 2026 TRD Pro starts at $80,765, making it more affordable than some direct competitors like the Ford Expedition Tremor.

The biggest changes are in the interior of the car, which is now significantly more modern and luxurious. All trim levels of the 2026 Sequoia now have a power-folding third row of seats as standard, which increases the flexibility of the cabin. The Limited trim level now uses genuine leather instead of synthetic, available in two color combinations.

Flagship luxury and power

The most luxurious flagship version, the Capstone, has a completely redesigned interior. Instead of the previous contrast, the Slate Grey shade is now dominant with textured elements imitating natural stone, walnut wood inserts and contrasting brown accents. All this is emphasized by high-quality materials, including metal inserts and soft-touch instrument panels. The updates also include interior lighting, improved noise insulation and a premium JBL audio system in higher trim levels.

In terms of technical characteristics, the Sequoia 2026 continues to use the proven i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain. It combines a 3.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6 gasoline engine and a powerful electric motor integrated into a 10-speed automatic transmission. The total power of the hybrid system is 437 horsepower, and the maximum torque is 790 Nm. This provides not only high dynamics, but also moderate fuel consumption for its class - an average of 22 mpg (approximately 10.7 liters per 100 km) in the combined cycle.

Platform, safety and availability

The SUV is available with both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive, and its chassis is built on the modern TNGA-F modular platform, also used in models such as the Tundra, Land Cruiser and Lexus LX. This architecture provides improved handling, body rigidity and higher cross-country ability. TRD trim levels retain special FOX shock absorbers and electronic off-road assistance systems.

In terms of safety and convenience, all trim levels are standardly equipped with the latest version of the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 complex. The infotainment system has also been improved with a 14-inch central screen that works faster and supports over-the-air updates.

The 2026 Toyota Sequoia model year is planned to go on sale in the US in the second half of 2025. The car will be assembled at Toyota's plant in San Antonio, Texas.
