Romania and the American company SpaceX have signed a partnership to develop new satellite technologies.
“I am pleased to be partners with the leading American company SpaceX, owned by Elon Musk, in the development of new satellite technologies. Now this partnership enters a new phase after the favorable results of the tests carried out by the company in Romania“, said Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu.
Ciolacu also wrote in X that his country and the American company will develop new satellites operating in non-geostationary orbits. In turn, SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell stressed that the company's cooperation with Romania will help provide “truly high-speed broadband internet“ in the country.
In October 2024, the Romanian Ministry of National Defense, together with SpaceX, conducted the first test of satellites operating in non-geostationary orbits.
