It is now clear to everyone that the floods we saw in 2023, and what happened yesterday and the day before, are the result of non-compliance with the rules - where to build, how to build. This was told to journalists by Nikolay Denkov, MP and member of the Executive Council of “Continuing the Change“ (PP), reports BTA.
The result of not following the rules is not abstract, it is not just corruption and missing money, the result is people dying, Denkov believes.
He made an analogy with road construction, pointing out that when this is done poorly and with poor-quality pavement, the result is human casualties again.
And we must finally open our eyes and understand that as long as this continues, people will die, and those who depend on it will act crazy and imprison others who tell the truth. We will tell the truth, even if they lock us up, Denkov pointed out.
The chairman of the PP Asen Vassilev emphasized that in 2023 funds were allocated for cleaning riverbeds, but two years later floods are happening again.
The question is that when this money is given to solve a problem, it must be solved correctly, and for this all institutions need to work, Vassilev pointed out.
