"The situation is, to put it mildly, unpleasant for GERB and their coalition partners from the ITN and the BSP, because they are also about to be taken over", said the deputy chairman of "Vazrazhdane" Tsoncho Ganev. He made a sharp statement on the sidelines of the parliament, commenting on the results of the elections in Pazardzhik and the political situation in the country, news.bg specified.
According to him, the elections clearly showed the trend that "Vazrazhdane" has been warning about for a long time — that Delyan Peevski and his party, after "politically liquidating Dogan", are now "taking over GERB".
He added that according to "Vazrazhdane" the government is shaken and it is a matter of time before it falls, since even GERB leader Boyko Borisov has already realized that his party has been "taken over by Peevski".
"Borisov is scared. He has finally publicly admitted that Peevski has taken over. He has two paths ahead of him — either to overthrow the government or to become Mr. Nobody", the MP also said.
Ganev accused Peevski of controlling key institutions, including the Ministry of Internal Affairs. "Zhelyazkov is Peevski's man. The Ministry of Interior, which he controls, is patronizing everything that is happening," Ganev said and demanded the government's resignation.
According to him, Bulgaria is at a dangerous moment, and entering the eurozone would be the "final end of the country's sovereignty".
"We need to have elections and a new government that categorically tells Brussels that we will not enter the eurozone", he added.
Tsoncho Ganev confirmed that "Vazrazhdane" is ready to submit a vote of no confidence, but accused the MECH party of refusing to provide the required five signatures. "They must explain why they do not want to overthrow the government of Peevski and Borisov. They refuse to have a vote of no confidence," Ganev said.
When asked if he was worried about the actions of the Ministry of Interior, he said he was only worried about the future of the country: "This is an organized crime group that should go to prison. I am interested in why MECH patronizes GERB and does not demand the resignation of the government."
The MP demanded the immediate resignation of the Minister of Interior, the Speaker of the National Assembly Natalia Kiselova and Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, who, according to him, are "completely under the influence of Peevski".
