In Plovdiv: A driver with over 2 per mille of alcohol crashed into a traffic light after a chase with the police

The driver is 50 years old, he also has a criminal record

A drunk driver caused an accident with material damage after trying to escape a police check in Plovdiv, the police announced, BTA reports.

At around 01:30 this night, a car patrol of the Fourth District Department followed a car whose driver did not obey a signal to stop.

At the intersection between „Tsarigradsko Shose" Blvd. and „Osvobozhdenie" Blvd. The car crashed into a traffic light, and the 50-year-old criminal behind the wheel was caught.

No one was injured during the incident.

The driver was tested with a breathalyzer, which showed over two per mille of alcohol. He was taken into custody for up to 24 hours with a police warrant.

An inspection was made at the scene of the accident, and the extent of the damage to the facility is being determined. The work continues together with officers from the “Investigation of Transport Crimes" sector.
