Varna Mayor Blagomir Kotsev returned to work in Varna Municipality after being in custody for nearly 5 months. He said that his first working day is expected to be long, "so he will be happy to welcome Varna residents on the steps of Varna Municipality".

"Rechargeable, rested, in a good mood, as much as it is possible to be after all this, but I am enthusiastic to see how things have been going in the municipality", said Blagomir Kotsev upon entering the municipality, quoted by BNT.

He expressed conviction that there are things that need to be made up for. Kotsev said he was not surprised "after yet another attack on the charity campaign to raise money for his bail".

All kinds of discrediting tools are being used, he said.

"This attack is not a surprise to me. It will, of course, be easier".

There will certainly be cases of perjury, he specified.

As the first task in the municipality, Blagomir Kotsev said that they would conduct the first Monday operation, "so that he could see his entire team".

"To see everyone - my entire team, to report to me what they have done during these months. To see what are the important, urgent topics that we need to get involved with quickly. After the operation, I will rethink a large part of the policy and the way in which the dialogue is going in the municipality of Varna, because during this year and a half the dialogue was not good", he explained and called for a normal dialogue between the parties and the municipal council.

We are opening a new page in the governance of this municipality, he added.

He stated that he supports the people's protest and called on them to "not be afraid to stand up for their rights".

It is absolutely not a topic for me to run for president, Kotsev was categorical.

"I withstood a lot of pressure, but it was mostly towards my family and the people of Varna. My family experienced it the hardest. She is a heroine, today is her birthday - I want to congratulate her".

He added that the trauma experienced is indescribable.

When asked if he had been threatened to join another political party, Blagomir Kotsev replied: "Yes, they were".

"Invitations that could be interpreted in any way".
