The political reactions to the decision of the outgoing Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov to sign the creation of the Peace Council, initiated by US President Donald Trump, continue.
It is expected that the request for ratification will subject the topic of Bulgaria's inclusion in the Trump Board to debate in the plenary hall, and the opposition plans to refer the matter to the Constitutional Court as well.
„Our position on the government's statement that next week they will submit the signed document for accession to the Peace Board for ratification. We insist that before the ratification by the National Assembly there be a ruling by the Constitutional Court on the compliance of this document with the basic provisions of the Constitution“, said Nadezhda Yordanova from PP-DB.
“The current cabinet has no moral or legal right to do this. We believe that we should have close relations with the Trump cabinet, but this is a task that should be done by the next cabinet“, commented the leader of “Vazrazhdane“ Kostadin Kostadinov.
“This resigned prime minister has no mandate to represent Bulgaria at any forums. This resigned president did well not to go. I would even refrain from attending if Azerbaijan and various secondary actors were sitting next to me“, said the leader of MECH Radostin Vassilev.
