Sofianski: Bulgaria is not at a crossroads, but has low authority in the EU

In the context of the expected caretaker cabinet, he pointed out that the government should be headed by an economist who would focus on more effective use of public funds and EU funds

Despite political instability, Bulgaria has a clear European orientation and is not at a crossroads. This was stated by former caretaker prime minister and long-time mayor of Sofia Stefan Sofianski on the air of "Your Day". According to him, the problem is not in the idea of the European Union itself, but in the way it is implemented, as well as in the low authority of our country as its member.

Sofianski criticized the current political elite, emphasizing that politics should be perceived as work, not as politicking. "There is no real dialogue in parliament and mainly confrontational disputes are being waged, which further undermines trust in the institutions," the former caretaker prime minister also said.

In the context of the expected caretaker cabinet, he pointed out that the government should be headed by an economist who would focus on the more effective use of public funds and EU funds, including the Recovery and Resilience Plan. He highlighted the economy, the organization of fair elections and the normal functioning of the state administration as the main priorities.

Sofianski expressed the opinion that Dimitar Radev is the most suitable figure for caretaker prime minister, emphasizing his professional qualities and his experience in managing public finances.
