Head of state Iliana Yotova is concluding consultations with representatives of the parliamentary groups in the 51st National Assembly today within the framework of the procedure for appointing a caretaker prime minister, dariknews.bg reported.

Yotova will meet with representatives of the parliamentary group of the "Alliance for Rights and Freedoms", as well as with the PG of PP MECH and the PG of "Velichie".

So far, Yotova has met with the PG of GERB-SDS, PP-DB, DPS-New Beginning, BSP-OL and ITN.

GERB-SDS has proposed a new speaker of the 51st National Assembly who can fulfill the constitutional commitment to head a caretaker government appointed by President Iliana Yotova. Denitsa Sacheva motivated the GERB-SDF proposal by saying that this way they are expanding the possibilities before the head of state. For her part, Iliana Yotova assured that the institution is doing everything possible to have the first possible date for holding elections. She said that she accepts the proposal for a new Speaker of the National Assembly, but it is entirely in the hands of the deputies.

After their meeting with Yotova, the PP-DB stated that four of the candidates for caretaker prime minister are directly related to Peevski. “Given that the protest rejected the “Peevski-Borisov” model, it would not be reasonable for Peevski to lead the caretaker government,” said Bozhidar Bozhanov. His response was laconic regarding the fact that the deputy governor of the Bulgarian National Bank, Andrey Gyurov, who is one of the five candidates who declared their readiness to head the caretaker government, is a man of “We continue the change”. Asked how they view the GERB-SDF proposal to have a new Speaker of the National Assembly, who would be included in the so-called “house book”, Bozhidar Bozhanov replied that this is relatively absurd and comical at this stage. Regarding President Yotova's statement about a certain continuity in the new cabinet with the old one and whether they had discussed which ministers should stay and which ones should necessarily leave, Bozhanov replied that they had not, which was also confirmed by Asen Vassilev.

The MRF-New Beginning stated that in Yotova, their party sees a partner with whom they can have a dialogue. Iskra Mihaylova set the number one task for the future caretaker government to be the holding of fair and transparent elections that would lead to people's trust in the parties and institutions. She noted that a caretaker government must also take responsibility on issues that directly affect the lives of citizens. As for the choice of Acting Prime Minister Iskra Mihaylova noted that the president “has a fairly wide choice“. For her part, Iliyana Yotova reminded that according to the latest changes in the Constitution, the choice is not the president's.

According to the BSP-OL, Yotova is placed in an absurd situation. “You do not have a free choice. You are limited by a certain number of people“, said Dragomir Stoynev from the left. He noted that the National Assembly must also bear its responsibility. As of July 1, there is no money to increase pensions according to the Swiss rule. The unions are preparing protests. They wanted a 10% increase in teachers' salaries, they received 5%. Social tension is beginning, which is not yet visible, but the BSP feels the people's dissatisfaction, Stoynev said. MP Maya Dimitrova told the president that the left supports the amendments to the Electoral Code for sections abroad that passed the second reading in the legal committee.

The chairman of the PG of ITN Toshko Yordanov pointed out the PP-DB as the main culprits that led to the current situation. President Yotova recalled that the ITN voted against the changes to the Constitution, but also referred them to the Constitutional Court. She noted that the responsibility for choosing a caretaker prime minister lies entirely with the National Assembly and also indicated to the ITN that the date for the elections should be the first possible one after the Easter holidays.

The reason for the complex situation we are in - without a budget and in speculation with prices - is the PP-DB, they protested and shouted against the budget. This is entirely their responsibility and the voters should know it, insisted Toshko Yordanov.
