The Government has approved funding for the Ministry of Defense in the amount of 3,033,454 euros for payments for 2026, under the terms of the International Contract BU-P-AAL "Acquisition of a mobile missile (NSM) system for coastal defense (CDS) and related equipment, spare parts, training and related maintenance" and the International Treaty BU-P-LBR "Multifunctional Information Dissemination System - Joint Tactical Radio System (MIDS JTRS) and related support and equipment".
The Naval Forces, as part of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Bulgaria, carry out basic activities to guarantee national sovereignty independently or in cooperation with other types of armed forces and/or in a coalition format.
The protection of maritime sovereignty is ensured extremely effectively through the use of anti-ship cruise missiles, whose zone of impact allows for rapid counteraction to threats at significant distances and with high accuracy.
A major share in the development of the defense capabilities of the Naval Forces is played by coastal anti-ship missile complexes, which are designed to conduct combat operations against a surface enemy independently or in cooperation with strike forces. Due to their unique capabilities, they form the backbone of coastal defense and protection of our maritime borders from the sea.
The acquisition of a new coastal anti-ship missile system with a large radius of action will expand the spectrum of tasks performed by the Navy in a national and collective format, through which new deterrence and defense capabilities will be generated in the national maritime spaces and guarantee the maritime sovereignty of the Republic of Bulgaria.
At the same time, conditions will be created for fulfilling NATO requirements for operational and technological compatibility and for expanding the Navy's contribution to the country's collective defense.
