The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) is marking the International Day of Remembrance for Fallen Police Officers by laying wreaths at the monument to the fallen police officers in the capital, BTA reports.
The event will be held at 10:00 a.m. The event will be attended by the Minister of Internal Affairs Emil Dechev, the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and representatives of the National Bureau of Interpol.
The regional police departments in the country will honor the memory of their fallen colleagues with a minute of silence and police lights turned on. „RFO - Remembering Fallen Officers“ („In memory of fallen law enforcement officers“) is the motto of this year's campaign, which expresses Bulgaria's solidarity with the international police community.
On the eve of the memorial day, the building of the National Palace of Culture (NPC) in Sofia was illuminated in blue with the support of the Ministry of Culture, as a symbol of respect for officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
On March 7, police forces around the world will come together to pay tribute to the women and men who died in the line of duty and to honor the service and vocation of all police officers.
Bulgaria, as a member of INTERPOL, joins over 100 countries that mark the day and support the initiatives organized and coordinated by the international organization.
