Just days after the completion of the renovation of the high terrace of the Turkish fort near the Baba Vida fortress in Vidin, problems with the pavement are already appearing. The site is a cultural monument of national importance, and the value of the project exceeds 1 million euros, writes Nova TV.
The renovation was carried out in 2024 and 2025 under a project of the Regional Administration - Vidin for the preservation, restoration and strengthening of part of the fortress walls, as well as for landscaping the area.
However, residents of Vidin signal that the newly laid tiles are already cracked, and the space around the site is not well equipped enough. According to them, there are no benches, bins and lighting.
According to the curator of the fortress “Baba Vida“ and municipal councilor Kalin Videnov, it remains unclear exactly how the funds for the project were spent. He points out that there are numerous cracks in the alleys, and the area lacks an irrigation and drainage system.
There are also problems with the platform for access for people with disabilities, which could not be activated when trying to use it.
The Vidin Regional Administration announced that during an inspection in February, defects and traces of vandalism were found. The construction has a warranty period of eight years.
