Residents of the Burgas neighborhood "Gorno Ezerovo" protested demanding urgent repairs to the severely compromised road surface in the area. According to them, the road is used not only by heavy trucks, but also by transit traffic from the "Trakia" highway to the Southern Black Sea coast, which further worsens its condition.
As a sign of dissatisfaction, the protesters blocked traffic at a key intersection at the entrance to the largest Burgas neighborhood "Meden Rudnik" for about an hour. Although the demonstration took place there, people emphasize that the main problem is several kilometers away - in a section where the pavement is seriously damaged. Due to the poor condition of the road, navigation systems often redirect traffic through “Gorno Ezerovo“, which further burdens the neighborhood.
The Burgas Municipality told bTV that the problematic section is part of the republican road network and the responsibility for its maintenance lies with the “Road Infrastructure“ Agency, which has already been notified of the case.
However, people from the neighborhood are adamant that measures are practically lacking. “The road is very bad, many potholes, everyone overloads and we break our cars. Every day new holes appear and they fill them with cold asphalt and then a week later it's the same thing again“, said Lazar Ivanov.
According to Miglena Georgieva, the problem is long-standing and the institutions are not responding adequately: “We have written complaints many times, we have filed reports with 112, the response is local. Absolutely no measures are being taken.“
Residents are demanding a permanent solution and a complete repair of the road to guarantee the safety of both local and passing drivers.
