French planes are already extinguishing the fire near the Bulgarian-Greek border, announced Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov on Facebook, quoted by BNT.
"A total of 3 aircraft arrived in Bulgaria today, two of them for firefighting. With the third, reconnaissance plane, the French teams already made a survey of the area, after which the extinguishing operations began. The two French planes will load water for firefighting from the Dospat dam. Police forces are also stationed at the artificial reservoir to secure the activities.
I express my gratitude for the quick reaction of the French teams!", Kalin Stoyanov states in his message. The fire on the Bulgarian-Greek border continues to threaten a large part of our territory. Thanks to the teams on the ground, the flames have been contained and have not covered new territories from the current 70 decares.
80 firefighters, military, forest officials and park rangers continue today to extinguish low-lying outbreaks in the furrow in the 11th day of fighting the fire. Air help today came not only from Greece country, but also from France. The three French planes take off from the airport in Plovdiv. One of them is conducting exploratory flights for logistics purposes, while the other two will extinguish the flames with a total water volume of nearly 14 tons per flight.
