Thirty houses were damaged after the explosions near Elin Pelin.
"We still cannot say the final number of houses and the amount of damage. What we are doing right now is looking at all the houses. There are places we can't get into for various reasons - people are at work or out of place. I hope that by the end of the week this will be completed as an inspection and then it will begin to be evaluated according to the reference values", said the mayor of the municipality of Elin Pelin Ivaylo Simeonov in the studio of the program "The Day ON AIR".
Some tried to take advantage of the tragedy
He explained that it is mainly about broken windows, window frames, roof tiles and plaster.
"We cannot ignore the fact that there were also some attempts to write in old damages. Some people wanted, as a result of this tragedy and emergency situation, to repair the house, which we will not allow", Simeonov was categorical to Bulgaria ON AIR.
Pirates cover the entire field
The mayor of the municipality once again drew attention to the scattered fireworks and pyrotechnics near the warehouses and appealed to people who see them not to touch them, but to call 112.
"At the moment, the whole field is littered with fireworks, firecrackers and other things that can ignite. Today we made signs to inform the citizens not to touch them, not to touch them. The military informed that there will be a formation that will respond to the spot and will start collecting these messy pirates and bombs," Simeonov specified.
The work of the institutions
According to him, the institutions have worked extremely professionally in dealing with the situation, but he pointed out the inclusion of the BG-ALERT system as problematic.
"The second SMS that was sent by the system created a chaos that we could not control and it turned out that neither people evacuated nor we knew how to proceed," commented the mayor of the municipality Elin Pelin.
