The fire in the Kresna gorge has been extinguished, announced the mayor of Kresna Nikolay Georgiev on his Facebook profile, BTA reported.
Thanks to the quick and adequate work of firefighters, volunteers, police, forest officials and everyone on the ground, the fire was extinguished, he said in the publication.
Last night a fire broke out in the area between the Peyo Yavorov station and the first tunnel of the Sofia - Kulata railway line.
The fire had engulfed a pine forest.
The mayor of Kresna, Nikolay Georgiev, was recruiting volunteers to help put out the fire.
Due to the fire, traffic on the main road E-79 was restricted. Traffic is bidirectional in one lane. The road is likely to be closed if the situation worsens.
A fire broke out in the village of Aldomirovtsi, Slivnitsa municipality, BNT reported. Dry grass and bushes are burning around two uninhabited houses.
The fire station reported that while the firefighters were extinguishing there, a signal was received that dry grass was also burning at the other end of the village.
A fire is burning in the municipality of Nevestino. The fire spread quickly due to the strong wind and has covered 400 decares of dry grass and 20 decares of forest massif, where it passes into a peak.
