Tagarev: Stopping the war in Ukraine is in Russia's interest

According to him, Ukraine will not accept a ceasefire agreement without guarantees that it will be permanent

Stopping the war in Ukraine is in Russia's interest. Moscow has so far occupied territory the size of all of Bulgaria. This was commented on by former Defense Minister Todor Tagarev, according to Darik.

According to him, most observers are united around the thesis that a temporary cessation of hostilities is more profitable for Russia.

“This will allow Russia to recover more losses in personnel and equipment – to prepare and start the war again”, the expert explained.

However, Tagarev believes that this will not have a positive impact on Ukraine.

“A cessation of hostilities under conditions that are absolutely unclear does not provide any guarantees for the security of Ukraine and for the continuation of the war by Russia. It will have a negative effect on both the population and the armed forces of Ukraine”, the expert explained.

According to Tagarev, Ukraine will not accept a ceasefire agreement without guarantees that it will be durable.

“There is no such agreement at the moment”, he added.
