Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has insisted he has no regrets about appointing Ange Postecoglou but believes the Australian's sacking was the right decision, despite him winning the club's first trophy in 17 years, BTA reported.
Levy said on the club's YouTube channel that he did not make the "emotionally difficult" decision to sack Postecoglou alone.
Ultimately, losing 22 Premier League games and finishing 17th cost Postecoglou his job after two years at the club.
"I don't regret appointing Ange. In his first season we finished fifth and in his second season we were delighted to win a trophy but we have to compete in all competitions. We felt we needed a change.
It was a collective decision. It wasn't just my decision. We do everything together. It was emotionally difficult but we believe we made the right decision for the club.“
Tottenham have appointed Brentford manager Thomas Frank as Postecoglou's successor and Levy is hoping a new man with new ideas can help the club get back on track.
"Whenever you have a new manager it's a fresh start. There are different ideas,“ he added.
"We want to build on the success of winning a trophy last season. One of the things that impressed me about Thomas – he is obviously extremely intelligent, a great communicator, a super person, plus all the other technical aspects that are important.“
