We call for de-escalation and diplomatic efforts to avoid further deterioration of the situation in the Middle East after the military actions carried out last night against nuclear installations on the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran. This is stated in the position of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The position also notes that Iran must not be allowed to develop a nuclear program for military purposes. We believe that preserving international law and arms control and non-proliferation mechanisms is of utmost importance, the Foreign Ministry added.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in constant coordination with partners from the European Union and NATO.

Earlier today, the government issued a statement stating that the security services are monitoring the situation in the Middle East and promptly reporting to Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov on the topic. The coordination units are fulfilling their assigned tasks, the press center of the Council of Ministers announced. At the moment, there is no immediate threat to the security of our country, the statement also says.

We expect the permanent members of the UN Security Council to find a path to a constructive dialogue that would prevent the danger of a global catastrophe, said President Rumen Radev in a position released by the press office of the head of state.
