Minutes after 5:00 p.m. today, Tsvetanka Milkova, the neighborhood's chief specialist, took action to notify local residents to be cautious, she explained to the Bulgarian National Radio.
Milkova received a notification letter from the mayor of Shumen Municipality today, in which he referred to a signal received from the environmental inspection in Shumen.
The signal is that a black panther was spotted near the "Matnitsa" turnoff from the highway. The warning message to residents says that they should be careful and cautious about their safety.
"In the event of a possible sighting of the predator, the competent authorities should be informed immediately," the Matnitsa city hall wrote.
The messages have already been posted at bus stops and in shops in the neighborhood. They have also been shared on Facebook, so the residents of the neighborhood have been notified, Milkova told Radio Shumen. She has also notified verbally, but according to her, there is no panic or concern among the people.
The first houses in the neighborhood are located about a kilometer from the place where the predator was allegedly spotted.
