Only one in 20 inspections of the CPC goes to court and one in 100 ends with a conviction. This means that it does not work. We see that at different times it is used to do the dirty work and without charges, years pass in which people are in prison and their lives are ruined. This Anti-Corruption Commission was created under the GERB bill. This was stated by Acad. Nikolay Denkov, MP from “We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria” to Nova TV, quoted by novini.bg.
„We want investigative institutions, but not full of people who are on the phone. We are fighting for anti-corruption actions by politically independent people”, he specified.
„The colleagues from the State Security Service are proposing a change in the form and work of this commission. We can support them, we will discuss it, but it cannot happen overnight”, Denkov also said.
According to him, the only important thing is the actions of the CPC. „Nobody cares what Peevski said. The people who were there must take responsibility. A review is being done - how many investigations they participated in, what was the result, was Bulgaria convicted for these actions. Did these people with high salaries do the job they were appointed to do? If the CPC is closed for two days, the same thing will happen as with the specialized court.”
It is categorical that the focus on the CPC aims to cover up the problems in the prosecutor's office: “The system is on the verge of complete collapse.”
”For 15 years we have seen the same thing - any attempts at a politically independent justice system are blamed, people are deceived. As long as Borisov and Peevski manage the processes in the country, this will continue, because they are afraid of a functioning justice system”, said Academician Denkov.
”With MECH we have common decisions that we can make. There is nothing abnormal in this. We want to show that the actions of the ruling party are unacceptable. I am sure that there will be different results if there are new elections. I will not comment on the absolutely false results of “Gallup”, which is already a propaganda agency and we know that it is closely linked to Peevski”, he is categorical.
“Ivan Kostov went down in history as a man who did an awful lot for Bulgaria's European development. But right now we are heading towards the presidential elections to defeat GERB. How are we going to nominate a common candidate with them? GERB is a symbol of corruption. There are many people who do not want corruption to eat up their future and savings. Just because he ran as a GERB candidate, Gerdjikov, for example, had no chance of winning. We will look for someone who is not from GERB,” he commented on the upcoming presidential elections.
He stated that Borisov’s GERB is an impossible partner: “Until he leaves GERB and Peevski disappears from the political landscape, we have nothing to do with them.“
