At the initiative of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Bulgaria and with the assistance of the Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan in the city of Blagoevgrad, Mr. Rashko Dinkov, a photo exhibition was organized in the building of the Blagoevgrad municipality, dedicated to the International Day against Nuclear Tests and the 34th anniversary of the closure of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site.

The event was attended by the Mayor of Blagoevgrad Municipality Metodi Baykushev, the Regional Governor Georgi Dinev and the Chairperson of the Municipal Council-Blagoevgrad Antoaneta Bogdanova, employees of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Bulgaria, the Honorary Consulate of Kazakhstan, as well as representatives of the Kazakh diaspora, Bulgarian public figures and the media.

Kazakh Ambassador Viktor Temirbayev emphasized the importance of this date for the people of Kazakhstan and drew attention to the country's international efforts to promote a world free of nuclear weapons. It was noted that, at the initiative of Kazakhstan, August 29 received the status of the International Day against Nuclear Tests, approved by the UN General Assembly.

For their part, the Mayor of Blagoevgrad Municipality Metodi Baykushev and the Regional Governor Georgi Dinev, as well as other persons, expressed gratitude to Kazakhstan for its leadership in the field of nuclear disarmament and strengthening the regime for the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

The participants in the event specifically emphasized that the international community is well aware of the "great and wise decision" of Kazakhstan in the field of nuclear disarmament.

The exhibition presents unique historical materials: photos from nuclear tests, archival documents testifying to the closure of the Semipalatinsk test site, as well as footage dedicated to the anti-nuclear movement «Nevada – Semipalatinsk».
