The Austrian capital Vienna has been chosen to host the "Eurovision" song contest in 2026, after Austria won this year's edition, AFP reported, citing the organizers from public broadcaster ORF, BTA reports.
The next edition of "Eurovision" is particularly special - it will be the 70th anniversary and will traditionally be held in May. The grand finale will be on May 16, 2026. The two-million-strong capital of Austria is running with the motto "Europe, shall we dance?" (Europe, shall we dance?).
Vienna, which has already hosted the song contest in 1967 and 2015 after Conchita Wurst won, was chosen over Innsbruck in Tyrol, the only other city in the contest.
As in 2015, the contest will be held in the "Wiener Stadhalle" (Wiener Stadhalle) - a concert hall with a capacity of up to 16,000 people.
Austria secured the hosting of "Eurovision 2026" after its representative, opera singer JJ, won this year's contest in Basel, Switzerland, with the emotional song Wasted Love. He became the first representative of the country to triumph in the contest since Conchita Wurst in 2014.
