Storm Alberto wakes up in the Gulf of Mexico

This is the first storm to be named by the US National Hurricane Center

Tropical Storm "Alberto" formed in the southwestern part of the Gulf of Mexico. This is the first storm that was given a name by the American National Hurricane Center, the Associated Press reported, quoted by BTA.

"Alberto", which is bringing strong winds, heavy rainfall and is poised to cause flooding in coastal areas of Texas and Mexico, is expected to reach northern Mexico later today local time. The storm is now located about 270 kilometers east of Tampico, Mexico, and about 495 kilometers south-southeast of Brownsville, Texas, with maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h. The storm is moving in a west-southwest direction. Winds could reach 80 km/h before the storm makes landfall.
