For the tenth consecutive year on June 21 and the days adjacent to this date, countries around the world will celebrate the holiday of the ancient discipline of yoga .
Bulgaria is among them.
Until June 23, 44 settlements, including the largest cities – Sofia, Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Burgas, Varna, Ruse, Veliko Tarnovo, Pleven, etc., will celebrate together with their separate programs.
The central event in Bulgaria will take place in Sofia again this year. On June 23, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the evening, the National Palace of Culture will open its doors to yoga knowledge. Hall 8, Hall 9 and Hall 9-A will offer their specific programs continuously. They will be open to all interested in the gifts of yoga. Entrance is free. All those who wish will be able to freely visit the various halls throughout the day.
For this tenth anniversary, the organizers offer a rich and varied program in each of the halls. From morning to evening, a constellation of the best certified teachers, representatives of famous schools of classical yoga, will demonstrate practices in Hall 9 of the NDK, where those who wish will be able to practice, or simply listen and observe. In Hall 9-A the practitioners classical asana of all ages will be able to participate in the championship organized by the Bulgarian branch of the World Sports Federation “Yogasana“.
Throughout the day in Hall 8, scholar-practitioners will give lectures on various topics concerning the essence and benefits of yoga, with the main emphasis being placed on the view and attitude of modern doctors towards various yoga practices.
In the lobby in front of the halls there will be stands offering the publications of the various yoga schools, small souvenirs and yoga accessories, etc. Attendees will also be able to sample Indian vegetarian, continental vegetarian and vegan food.
The closing will take place in Hall 9 of the NDK from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Celebrations of the International Day of Yoga in Bulgaria take place under the patronage of the Ambassador of the Republic of India H.E. Mr. Sanjay Rana. He shares: “I am impressed by the huge interest and deep understanding of yoga in Bulgaria. Here I meet people who not only practice, but also show a serious intellectual and scientific focus on studying the benefits of yoga.”
The International Yoga Day is organized by the Bulgarian Yoga Federation, East-West Indology Foundation. and Association “India”, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of India, with the direct assistance and participation of the Bulgarian Yoga Association, Foundation “The Art of Living” – Bulgaria, the “Isha“ Foundation, as well as with the active participation of all widely represented yoga schools and dozens of yoga clubs in Bulgaria.
