My creed is - I pray that every day there will be a tomorrow, shared from Frankfurt in an interview with the Bulgarian National Radio the iron five of the star national football team of Bulgaria and former national coach Petar Hubchev.

"We need to show greater humility, not to be arrogant in life and in everything we do. We need to be more humble, know our place and put in more work", he recommended and gave as an example the comments about the Bulgarian championship.

"We speak as if we were almost world champions and such names... I don't remember them anymore", he added. The former central defender is fighting the biggest battle - against the insidious diagnosis of cancer.

In the interview for the program "RadioTochka" on the Bulgarian National Radio, the spring chirping of birds could be heard. "Right now I am in a forest, a park, near where I live in Frankfurt - and I am walking", he shared. And once again he proved why he is the "iron five":

"There is no point in complaining and despairing. I have only one way out, which is to continue to do what the doctors tell me and to be lucky."

And he admits that he was lucky to end up in the right places for the treatment of the oncological disease - the university clinic in Frankfurt.

Khubchev thanks his family for their strength, support and care for him. And about the charity auction, about the small gestures of the people from his native village of Glozhene, the community center, the people who organize the campaign, the Teteven municipality - he shared:

"Small gestures are the greatest support. I have great friends and relatives. Stiliyan Petrov and his wife helped us immensely in the first days after I heard the diagnosis. At a time when we didn't know what to do. I listened to Stiliyan and announced my illness, even though I initially didn't want to", shared Petar Hubchev.

About his grandchildren, he says that this is the greatest feeling - watching how 3 – 4-year-old children play, "now I understand why grandchildren love each other more than children". He admits that he is worried about the future of his children and grandchildren.

"I don't like many things, but I can't change anything, we will strive to educate them in the best way we were educated," he says.

Khubchev also commented on the successes of Bulgarian football in the USA in 1994 and the European Championship in 1996 and believes that after that our football continued by inertia. As an example, he gave how teams in the second Bundesliga play home matches in front of 50,000 - 60,000 spectators.

And about gambling, he says that they are useful as sponsors. And the people who fix matches are different, they are not from the gambling business: "My personal opinion is, I will dare to say it, that the people involved in gambling are not the people who fix matches here or there, they are different people. Gambling as a sponsor helps, but they are not the people who harm football. For me, they are different people around football." Hubchev said that he does not have the physical ability to return as a coach.
