The Bulgarian national mini-football team recorded a prestigious 6:3 victory over the world champion Romania during the Nations Games tournament, which is being held at the National Football Base in the capital's Boyana district, BTA reported.
Bulgaria struck two lightning strikes right at the start. In the seventh minute, Danilo Vasov opened the scoring, and in the 15th, Lyubomir Genchev doubled the lead after an assist from Angel Rahov.
However, Romania showed why it is the world champion and quickly brought back the intrigue. In the 20th minute, Viorel Saim reduced the score to 1:2, and just a minute later, Alexandru Nechita equalized for 2:2 after a pass from Andrey Balya.
The Bulgarians did not give up and responded with a new powerful series. In the 23rd minute, Momchil Kuzmanov, after an assist from Nikolay Marinov, gave Bulgaria a new lead — 3:2. And even before the break, in the 25th minute, Ivaylo Todorov with a precise shot after a pass from Angel Rahov made it 4:2.
After the break, the Bulgarians finally decided the match. In the 28th minute, Nikolay Ivanov scored for 5:2 after an assist from Bozhidar Atanasov, and in the 40th minute, Atanasov scored for 6:2 himself, this time after a pass from Ivanov.
Shortly before the end, Andrey Sumaleya made it 6:3 with an honorary goal for Romania, but he could not spoil the celebration of the "tricolors".
Thanks to this success, Bulgaria is on the verge of qualifying for the final of the tournament, as it only needs to not lose to Israel in its last match.
The Nations Games tournament is part of the teams' preparation for the upcoming World Futsal Championship, which begins in Baku, Azerbaijan on May 21.
