The electric vehicle revolution begins

Chinese manufacturer launches solid-state battery line

The Chinese electric vehicle market is on the verge of a major technological transformation. Anhui Anwa New Energy Technology, partly owned by Chery New Energy, officially announced the launch of the first batch of new-generation solid-state batteries. This step is a logical continuation of Chery Group's ambitious strategy, announced back in October 2024, to introduce more efficient and safer power sources for electric vehicles.

Technological breakthrough and manufacturing innovation

The first engineering samples of solid-state batteries with an energy density of 300 Wh/kg were produced at the enterprise in the Wuhu Economic Zone on July 4, 2025. They have already passed fire and explosion safety certification, confirming the readiness of the technology for further scaling.

The company's innovative production line, over 35 meters long, is part of a closed production cycle with a high level of automation. It includes laser processing of materials to reduce partial contamination and save up to 20% of energy costs.

Capacity, safety and future plans

The first plant has an annual design capacity of 1.25 GWh, and the production speed reaches 20 meters of electrode material per minute. The production is carried out without the use of liquid components, which significantly reduces the risk of fire and increases the overall reliability of the batteries. In addition to the increased energy density, solid-state batteries are less sensitive to temperature changes, charge faster and can store more energy at the same weight as modern lithium-ion analogues.

Test production of the second generation of batteries with an increased density of up to 400 Wh/kg has already begun. The company plans to launch mass production of third-generation batteries, which will have an energy density of 500 Wh/kg, in 2027. In parallel, a 5 GWh research center is being prepared for launch to further develop the technology, which will be located at the same production site.

First signs of application in cars

Although there is still no official information about specific cars that will receive solid-state batteries, a captured image of the Chery Exeed Exlantix ET electric SUV with the marking “All-solid-state battery“ may indicate that the new batteries are already being tested on the brand's serial prototypes. This progress could portend a significant improvement in the performance and safety of electric vehicles in the near future.
