The New York Post: Suspect in Kirk's murder was near university hours before shooting VIDEO

New security camera footage shows Tyler Robinson driving a car on a nearby street as early as 8:23 a.m. local time, the newspaper reports

Tyler Robinson, the suspect in the murder of American conservative activist Charlie Kirk, was near the university in Orem (Utah) several hours before the crime, The New York Post reported.

According to the newspaper, newly released security camera footage shows Robinson driving a car on a street adjacent to the university as early as 8:23 a.m. local time, and walking down the street an hour and a half later. At the time, he was wearing a red T-shirt and gray shorts, while after the shooting, which occurred around noon, he was wearing a black sweatshirt and pants.

The camera that Robinson was seen on was installed on the house of a local resident, who told the publication that law enforcement officers went door to door asking people for video footage from the cameras shortly after the shooting.

Kirk, 31, was shot on September 10 during a speech at a university in Orem, Utah. He died in hospital from his wound. The conservative activist was a Trump supporter.

The Utah resident, who is suspected of the murder, was detained on the evening of September 11. He was handed over to authorities by his own father, to whom he confessed to the crime. Trump said he hopes Robinson is found guilty and sentenced to death. According to Utah Governor Spencer Cox, authorities believe Robinson acted alone.
