Problem with injuries on board lands plane flying from Mexico to New Jersey in Tampa

Those requiring additional care were taken to a local hospital

A "JetBlue Airways" flight from Cancun, Mexico, to New Jersey was diverted to Tampa after a problem with the aircraft's controls led to injuries to several passengers, Reuters reported, citing statements from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the airline.

JetBlue Flight 1230, an "Airbus A320", took off from Cancun International Airport and headed to "Newark Liberty" Airport in New Jersey, but landed in Tampa, Florida, at about 2:19 p.m. local time. The FAA is investigating the incident.

"JetBlue" said the plane experienced a drop in altitude and "the flight was met by a medical team who assessed passengers and crew members, and those who required additional care were taken to a local hospital".

The airline did not immediately say how many people were injured. The plane has been taken out of service for inspection, and "JetBlue" will conduct a full investigation to determine the cause of the incident.

"The safety of our customers and crew is always our top priority and we will work to support those affected," JetBlue said.
