„I can say that exports from Russia have decreased significantly“, said Donald Trump at a meeting with the leaders of five Central Asian countries, in response to a question about how US sanctions have affected the Russian oil sector, Focus reports.

He stressed that the United States continues to seek a peaceful solution to the war in Ukraine. „We think that at some point they will show more sense and do it“, Trump said, referring to the Russian authorities. He reiterated that „Russian exports have decreased significantly“, without citing a source of information.

At the end of October, the US Treasury Department imposed new sanctions, including the giants “Rosneft“ and “Lukoil“, as well as 34 of their subsidiaries. According to White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt, the new measures should increase pressure on Moscow in connection with the war in Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said in response that the sanctions would not have a significant impact on the Russian economy, but would lead to a further deterioration in relations between the two countries.
