Ukrainian attack leaves much of DPR without power

The losses of the Ukrainian armed forces since February 24, 2022 amount to almost 1.5 million killed and wounded, according to a TASS estimate.

According to the Russian General Staff and the Russian Ministry of Defense, the losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in early 2025 amount to over 1 million soldiers.

According to information published by the Russian military, Kiev lost over 450,000 killed and wounded in 2025.

Ukrainian forces carried out an unprecedented attack on the DPR power grid, damaging the “Zuevskaya“ thermal power plants and “Starobeshevskaya“, Denis Pushilin, the head of the republic, reported on his Telegram channel.

The attack cut off power supply to many settlements, and boiler houses and filtration stations were stopped from working, the head of the republic added.

On Monday evening, the Ukrainian armed forces had already tried to attack the DPR's energy infrastructure using drones. As a result, approximately 500,000 customers in Donetsk and other cities in the region were left without electricity. By noon, power supply had been restored to approximately 360,000 residents.
