NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte reiterated on Tuesday that the necessary consensus for Ukraine's accession to the alliance has not yet been reached, reports „Reuters“, reports News.bg.

„The practical situation is such that Ukraine's accession to NATO requires consensus from all allies. There is currently no such consensus,“ Rutte told reporters.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier said that negotiators from the United States and Ukraine had „improved“ the framework peace agreement developed in Geneva during their recent talks in Florida. Kiev's desire to join NATO, enshrined in the Ukrainian constitution, is one of the red lines declared in advance by Ukraine, while Moscow insists that this text be removed.

CNN, citing its sources, reported that at a meeting in Florida on Sunday, representatives of Ukraine and the United States discussed a possible scenario in which the ban on joining NATO would be agreed directly between the alliance's member states and Moscow, without the direct participation of Kiev.
