Witkoff's plane took off from Moscow, Americans promised Putin not to go to Kiev

They will go straight home to Washington, said Russian President's advisor Yuri Ushakov

A plane believed to be that of US special envoy Steve Witkoff took off from Moscow early this morning after talks in the Kremlin to settle the war in Ukraine, world agencies reported, BTA reported.

The agencies, citing sources from the aviation authorities, reported that the plane on which Witkoff arrived yesterday took off from Vnukovo Airport in the Russian capital at around 02:00 local time.

Witkoff and US President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner negotiated for five hours in the Kremlin with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The US delegation from Moscow should head directly to Washington, said Putin's advisor Ushakov after talks.

Axios and AFP reported earlier that after Moscow, White House envoys planned to discuss the results of their talks with Kiev.

The Russian side denied this.

"The American delegation will return to Washington after the talks, and then White House representatives will probably contact Moscow by phone," said Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov after the talks in the Kremlin.

"Witkoff and Kushner promised us that they would not go to Kiev, but would return to their native Washington," he said.
