Democrats on the US House Oversight Committee have released previously unpublished photos and videos from Little St. James, a private Caribbean island owned by convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The New York Post reported.
The photos and footage show the pool area and various rooms in the villa. They were taken after Epstein's death, who committed suicide while awaiting sentencing.
The released photos show what appears to be a luxury residence on the island. The images depict rooms reminiscent of a dentist's office, as well as bedrooms and showers decorated with masks of historical figures.
A landline phone with a list of speed dial numbers is filmed in one of the rooms, with some of the names on the list redacted.
Democratic Representative Robert Garcia noted that the published materials reveal the “disturbing environment“ in Epstein's world and that they are being published to “ensure transparency“ in the investigation of the case against the financier.
Earlier, the US House of Representatives voted to adopt a bill to publish the files of financier Jeffrey Epstein. 427 members voted “in favor“, with only one “against“. Yesterday, a federal judge in Florida allowed the US Department of Justice to release grand jury transcripts in the sex trafficking case against Epstein.
A US federal judge yesterday ordered the release of documents from the 2006-2007 federal investigation in Florida against Epstein, The Guardian reports.
Florida District Judge Rodney Smith granted the Justice Department's request to release transcripts from the grand jury hearings in the case of Epstein and his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell, the Guardian reported.
Earlier this year, this request was rejected by another judge.
