After mass protests in Bulgaria, when hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets of cities in the Balkan country, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov resigned, writes SIR (Servizio Informazione Religiosa).

The publication commented that the decision comes at a crucial moment, as Bulgaria adopts the euro as its currency on January 1.

Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov said when announcing his resignation that the government is listening to the voice of the citizens, and they want exactly one thing - resignation.

The leader of the main ruling party Boyko Borisov said that he does not see "any irregularities in the government's actions."

According to the opposition in the person of the PP-DB, the next step is early parliamentary elections, which “must be held fairly and without manipulation“.
